CANOE FISHING: Canoes will serve as vessels
of discovery as we paddle and fish the
waters of
Basic canoeing and safety skills will
start the week. Learn a
variety of techniques on fishing for Largemouth
Bass in a canoe.
In-depth studies of fish ecology and
anatomy will be
coupled with advanced studies of the Indian
Rock watershed.

SOLVE IT: Experiment with the physical world around you!
Solve problems involving pulleys,
weights, ramps, ropes, and
much more. Conduct actual experiments that test the laws
that
govern the universe!

WILD ANIMALS: Venture into the preserve
and discover the variety of amphibians,
reptiles, birds, and mammals
that live here. Learn where to find different species and
visit with live and mounted animals
throughout the week.

SPLASH: A week of beach-front activities including: swimming,
water polo, canoeing, volleyball, and a beach

COLONIAL TRADES: Try your hands at ancient
skills including: Blacksmithing, broom making,
tin punching,
stenciling, fireplace cooking, leather working,
and primitive
pottery.

EXPLORERS: Become confident in the outdoors by learning
basic camping skills. Gain experience in
shelters, outdoor cooking,
orienteering, health, and sanitation. An overnight
outdoors
on the preserve will round out the week.

EXPLORATION OF ARCHERY: The basic skills
of archery will form the foundation of
this week. Leave modern
technology behind while discovering the lost art
of constructing
primitive archery equipment from plants, animals,
and rocks.
Successful completion of this week may
qualify participants for
the Archery Boy Scout Merit Badge.

ROCKETRY: 3-2-1 Blast off to a week of discovery,
learning all about rockets, space vehicles, and
galactic travel.
Learn how rockets work by building and
launching your own
model rocket.

ANIMAL SCIENCE: Expand your knowledge
of farm animals as you become junior farm
hands.
Raise up a chick of your own. Help on farm projects that
help the animals.

CANOEING & KAYAKING: Learn the basics of handling a
canoe and kayak. Launch, paddle, portage, and
learn safety and
rescue techniques as you explore

ART OF NATURE: Learn to draw and paint animal and plant
life
along with learning illustration techniques
using a variety of artist media.

FRONTIERSMAN: This is a follow-up to Explorers where
you
can take your skills to the next level as
you explore the outer
reaches of the preserve and camp out in more
primitive conditions.
The week includes an overnight, cooking
over the fire,
and learning more primitive camping skills.
August 4 - 8
NATURALIST:
Gain practical skills and an
understanding of the
outdoors. Make your own nature guide as you
learn to
take pictures, make drawings, collect
plants, and
record your observations.

SKY WATCH: Come and explore our atmosphere and beyond
using knowledge of astronomy, geology, and
meteorology.
Spend time observing the stars in our
Star-Lab planetarium and
learn how to utilize elements of the sky for
survival skills like
navigation and cooking.
August 11-15
SUPER SLEUTHS: Hone your skills of deduction
and reasoning as we use a detective’s “eye”
to observe the
living world. Investigation skills will be
applied to searching,
tracking, mysteries, and surprises!

August 18-22
SO LONG TO SUMMER: Join us for a week of
fun and games as we say goodbye to summer.
Treasure hunts,
forest games, races, and a barbecue party will
round out the week.
