Renovations and Educational Resource Expansion

The Harry C. Barnes Memorial Nature will be renovated into a visitor friendly interactive facility while preparing the current facility for the addition of a new 12,800 square foot interactive education center.  The education building will feature a central atrium with waterfalls, streams, pools and Connecticut’s animal life in their natural habitats along with an underground world and geology exhibits.  A new classroom, expanded library and created wetland environments will add to the total educational experience.  The educational center would function by design for both formal education programs for schools and general public needs.  The renovated and expanded facility will be a next generation nature center.
