Environmental Education

ELCCT brings people to experience first-hand their natural environment.  Key to understanding the world around us is developing inquiring minds that can solve problems, make discoveries and contribute to the well being of mankind.  ELCCT’s mission has led to a very successful growth in activities over the course of its history.  In addition, ELCCT is fortunate to be located within major population areas, making our natural areas accessible to many school systems.  Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut is within 30 minutes of the Hartford, New Britain, Meriden, Waterbury, Bristol, and Torrington metropolitan areas.  Quite often, natural areas are too far away to be practical for schools to travel to in a day.  Science Centers are usually located within metropolitan areas and do not offer first hand experiences in natural environments.

ELCCT’s 30 years plus of experience in providing educational experiences has given us the knowledge base to aggressively meet the educational needs of school systems throughout Connecticut.  ELCCT is fortunate to own some of the best natural resources in the area devoted to education..

Educational Resource Expansion

Working hand in hand with our land acquisition projects is our educational objective of providing diverse educational experiences through the utilization of natural areas as hands on classrooms for students and families.  We firmly believe in the important role of learning first hand about the world we live in through direct experience.  The diversity of our Preserves provides a diversity of learning experiences.  Our two educational facilities provide an important waypoint between people and their environment.
